Second-year offensive guard Nick Saldiveri started his third career game for the Saints, but he did not finish it.

Saldiveri, who was already a replacement for the injured Lucas Patrick in the starting lineup, was ruled out with a shoulder injury shortly after halftime.

Undrafted rookie Kyle Hergel filled in at left guard in Saldiveri's absence, becoming the 11th offensive lineman to play an offensive snap for the Saints this season, and the eighth to log significant playing time on the offensive interior.

New Orleans was already going into the game without three regular starters on the interior of the offensive line in Patrick, center Erik McCoy and right guard Cesar Ruiz.

Patrick was active for the game, but was apparently only suited up for use in case of emergency. He missed last week's game against Tampa Bay with a chest injury.
