A man arrested in connection with an Aug. 31 fatal shooting in a Lafayette barbershop has been ordered held without bond, while one of two 17-year-olds arrested in the case will be transferred from a juvenile facility to the Lafayette jail next week when he turns 18.
Abram Landry, 23, and 17-year-olds Jeffery Broussard and Shylan Mouton were arrested in the days following a shooting that took place just after 9 a.m. Aug. 31 in a barbershop in the 1000 block of Louisiana Avenue.
The shooting left 48-year-old Johnny Trailer Jr. dead and 19-year-old Quincy Duhon Jr. critically wounded. Duhon died a week later.
At a hearing on Sept. 24, 15th Judicial District Commissioner Andre Doguet ordered Landry held without bond on two counts of first-degree murder and referred his case to the indigent defenders office, according to court documents in the Lafayette Parish Clerk of Court Office.
At a Sept. 17 virtual hearing for Broussard, Doguet signed an order transferring him on Oct. 1, his 18th birthday, from the Lafayette Juvenile Detention Center to the adult jail, the Lafayette Parish Correctional Center, court records show.
Broussard also is being held without bond on two counts of first-degree murder.
Court records from the hearing show Broussard also is on hold for Jefferson County, Texas.
Records from Mouton's hearing reveal little except that his case was allotted to 15th Judicial District Court Judge Scott Privat. His attorney also has requested a bond hearing.
Landry has been linked to two previous murders, one in Lafayette and one in Lake Charles, according to court records and news reports. He is scheduled for trial Nov. 25 for the Lake Charles shooting.
He was arrested in June 2020 in Lake Charles for assault by drive-by shooting and illegal use of a weapon while committing a violent crime, according to news reports at the time. The arrest was in connection to a May 2020 shooting at a graduation party. Landry was 19 at the time.
In November 2021, Landry was arrested and charged with second-degree murder in connection with a shooting on Oct. 3, 2021, in the 900 block of Peach Street in Lafayette, that resulted in the death of Shayne Burke, 21, of Lafayette.
About a year later, the case was removed from the 15th JDC docket in Lafayette because the case was refused by the District Attorney's Office, court records show.
