Bayou Bets, Oct. 23: Can Saints get back in gear Sunday at Indy?

On Monday’s Bayou Bets, we’ll lead off with the emotionally wounded Saints heading to Indianapolis this weekend to take on the Colts, as well as LSU QB Jayden Daniels’ Heisman chances, Tulane traveling to Rice on Saturday and the Pelicans opening their season at Memphis on Wednesday.

If one were to predict the Saints by doing the opposite of what they did the week before (which has not been a bad way to bet them so far this season), one would expect a big bounce back at Indianapolis this Sunday. However, Gardner Minshew and the Colts are in a similar boat. Is this a must win?

And what about LSU? They have a week to prepare for the big one in Tuscaloosa on Nov. 4 with the winner the overwhelming favorite to represent the West in the SEC championship game. The side story is just as big, for if the Tigers do pull off the upset, quarterback Jayden Daniels likely becomes the frontrunner to win the Heisman Trophy.

Lastly, after briefly chatting about Tulane, the Bet.NOLA.com Bayou Bets crew of Jim Derry and Spencer “The Guru” Urquhart talk about the Pelicans opening their season Wednesday at Memphis and what might be the best Pels’ futures odds to buy. The duo also shares their thoughts on Monday night’s ALCS Game 7 between the Astros and Rangers and the NFL’s 49ers at Vikings.

“Bayou Bets” is sponsored by Caesars Sportsbook, official odds partner of The Times-Picayune and The Advocate and airs live at 4 p.m. every Monday and Thursday on the Bayou Bets YouTube channel (among other NOLA.com social media channels) and can be viewed on demand there anytime.
