Louisiana Gov. Jeff Landry got the No. 2 spot on a “first-of-its-kind scorecard of Republican governors” produced by the MAGA-aligned Conservative Political Action Conference.

Landry celebrated the high score, saying, “I will always fight for and defend Louisiana’s conservative values!” in post from his campaign account on social media site X, which earned a CPAC retweet.

Landry lost out on CPAC’s top spot to Arkansas Gov. Sarah Huckabee Sanders.

Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis and Texas Gov. Greg Abbott also landed in CPAC’s top ten.

The organization highlighted legislation Landry signed this year related to gun-rights expansion, abortion, Critical Race Theory, limits on voting and work requirements for government food assistance, among other conservative priorities.

It also highlighted Landry’s plan to shrink the state budget and his executive orders related to illegal immigration, facilitating oil and gas permits and state standardized testing for high schoolers.

“CPAC set out to determine which governors have best answered the call to defend their state from woke socialism and fight for economic prosperity,” said CPAC Chairman Matt Schlapp in a post on X.

In its endorsement of former President Donald Trump for president, a CPAC statement says, “The extreme leftist Marxists have infiltrated our colleges, universities, elementary schools, the military, in fact all of our sacred institutions.”
