BREADA’s renovated Main Street Market, unveiled Thursday night at the annual Farm Fête fundraiser, is a breath of fresh air for downtown Baton Rouge. The space at 501 Main St. is the same size, but the expanded walkway with new floors and seating areas makes the overall space more community friendly.

“We are so thrilled with the outcome. We finally have a space where people can gather — and make it community focused,” said Darlene Adams Rowland, BREADA executive director.

With four permanent restaurant spaces and a BREADA store that will also host cooking demonstrations to expand educational programs, the new space provides abundant possibilities, Rowland said.

Renovations include a full commercial kitchen.

Rowland says a complete signage package is still in the works that will tell BREADA’s story and remind people that the market is run by a nonprofit that works to connect farmers with economic opportunities and families with fresh food.
